New Voices New Rooms has opened up two dedicated channels in its Discord community for booksellers to arrange ride and room shares. Recognizing that travel expenses are a major factor in a store’s decision on whether to attend the conference, NVNR created space to help attendees work with each other to arrange to share travel to and from the NVNR 2026 conference in Baltimore this coming August.
Tip: Don’t forget the train! The trip may be longer, but ticket prices are usually less expensive than air travel, and without the stress of either flying or driving. The Baltimore station is on a direct route from New York and Philadelphia to the north, and Washington DC, Richmond, and Norfolk to the south. For longer distances, The Cardinal (from Chicago), Palmetto (Savannah), Carolinian, Crescent (New Orleans), and Silver Service (Miami) trains also stop at Baltimore Penn Station. From the Baltimore station it is a 5 minute taxi ride to the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel (if the Orioles aren’t playing a home game).
The NVNR Discord community is the best way for booksellers to connect with their fellow attendees to make plans in advance of the conference. It is the place for first time attendees to ask questions, for long-distance friends to plan meet ups, and for bookstores to connect around the issues important to them. It is also the place to share photos, discoveries, and all of the fun things that happen at a conference and make the time feel so magic.
The community is only open to booksellers. If you have been a part of NVNR Discord in the past, then you still are! Booksellers who register for NVNR 2026 will receive a link to join NVNR Discord with their confirmation. If you need a link, contact Kit Little or Candice Huber for an invite.
