The quarterly Owners Retreats and Strategy Sessions bring store owners from NAIBA and SIBA together to network and share information. Strategy Sessions are virtual meetings held in January, May, and October, focusing on a specific topic. Retreats are in-person and held during the Annual Conference.

The fall NVNR Owner Strategy Session began with booksellers sharing their 4th Quarter plans and strategies, before opening the discussion to a variety of issues that were "top of mind" for booksellers in the current uncertain economic climate.

Publicity Speed Dating is the popular event, conceived by NAIBA, where booksellers looking to expand their event program can meet with publicists one-on-one to share their publicity kit and "pitch" their store as a good partner for author events. It is an invaluable opportunity for booksellers and publicists to make connections and put themselves on each other’s radar.
Currently, NAIBA holds an in-person Publicity Speed Dating event for their member stores every spring, and NVNR hosts a virtual version on Zoom in early summer for SIBA and NAIBA members.
Space is necessarily limited at each event, bookseller interest is always very high, and title discovery and finding authors for store event programs consistently rate as priorities for conference ... Keep Reading
